Our History

VIKON’s journey is defined by nearly three decades of continuous engineering innovation, industrial evolution, and technological advancement.

In 1997, our engineering team successfully developed and manufactured China’s first electric treadmill, marking a historic breakthrough and the beginning of indigenous electric fitness equipment engineering in the country.

Building on this technological foundation, after six years of systematic research and industrial development, in 2003 we achieved another major milestone by developing and mass-producing China’s first commercial motorised treadmill, enabling electric treadmills to move from experimental and consumer use into full-scale commercial applications. This achievement formally launched China’s modern commercial fitness equipment industry.

These two pioneering milestones established our long-standing leadership in mechanical engineering, electronic control systems, and industrial manufacturing, and set the foundation for decades of continuous innovation.

1997 – 2002

Engineering Foundations

Our engineering platform was formally established in 1997, at a time when the fitness equipment industry in China was still in its infancy. During this period, we focused on building core capabilities in:

· Motor drive and speed control systems

· Mechanical transmission and structural engineering

· Electronic control system architecture

· Industrial-grade safety and reliability standards

This foundational phase culminated in the successful development of China’s first electric treadmill, laying the technical groundwork for future commercial-scale innovation.

2003 – 2005

Industry Breakthrough – The Birth of Commercial Electric Treadmills

In 2003, we successfully developed and mass-produced China’s first commercial motorised treadmill, achieving multiple critical engineering breakthroughs:

· High-load commercial-grade motor drive systems

· Stable and reliable variable-frequency control architecture

· Reinforced running decks and shock absorption structures

· Continuous high-load operational stability

This milestone marked the transition of electric treadmills into commercial-grade fitness equipment, formally ushering China’s fitness industry into the era of commercial electrification.

2006 – 2012

Industrialisation & Manufacturing Scale

As market demand expanded rapidly, we systematically built large-scale industrial manufacturing and quality management systems, including:

· Automated welding and precision fabrication lines

· CNC machining and modular assembly systems

· Multi-stage quality inspection protocols

· Structural endurance, fatigue, and stress testing laboratories

This phase enabled the transition from engineering-based manufacturing to true industrial-scale production, significantly improving product consistency, reliability, and delivery capability.

2013 – 2018

Performance Advancement & Intelligent Control

With a mature manufacturing platform in place, R&D efforts shifted toward performance enhancement and intelligent control systems, resulting in major technological advances in:

· High-efficiency drive systems

· Precision power and resistance control algorithms

· Constant power resistance platforms

· Intelligent calibration and closed-loop feedback systems

During this period, high-precision power measurement and constant power control technologies reached full industrial maturity, enabling elite-level training applications.

2019 – 2022

Smart Systems & Self-Powered Technology

In response to growing demand for intelligent and sustainable solutions, we achieved major system-level breakthroughs in:

· Self-powered treadmill technology

· Intelligent closed-loop resistance control

· Predictive diagnostics and system monitoring

· Data-driven training analytics platforms

Professional fitness equipment evolved from mechanical products into intelligent training systems, ushering in a new era of data-enabled performance training.

2023 – Present

The Birth of VIKON & Global Expansion

After decades of engineering accumulation and industrial refinement, VIKON was officially launched as an independent global professional brand, dedicated to delivering high-performance, intelligent, and commercial-grade training solutions to the world.

Today, VIKON operates with global headquarters in the UK and integrated R&D and manufacturing centres in Asia, serving markets across:
